Curled up in the sunshine with their books are, from left, Elizabeth Conlon, Mallory Osborne, Taylor McCarthy, Kelsey Lingo, Taneesha Sharmin and Paige Horner, all students in Heidi Smith’s class who spent part of Thursday reading outside.

Taking advantage of last week’s summer-like weather, a group of Snoqualmie Elementary School students went outside to read.

Teacher Heidi Smith said, “It’s never hard to get my kiddos to read and it’s even easier to have them read under a shady oak on the cool grass. They could have spent the day out there!”

Smith took some photos of her students immersed in their books, and shared them with the Record.

“There’s nothing better than a book in your hand and the beautiful Mount Si backdrop to remind you of the amazing place we live,” Smith added.
