Photo contest: Moving images of people are winners

Riley Haney, who won an award of excellence for work on Mount Si High School PSA entry in the 2014 Northwest High School Film Festival, has taken the number one spot in our 2016 photo contest in the People category.

The smiling man in the furry hat just has a way of drawing you deeper into the photo, our judges agreed.

Dan Ahner’s photo of some snowy fun took second place in the People category, and Leigh Stone submitted a breath-taking shot of her granddaughter Chloe flying through the air as she played with her father, as taken by Stone’s daughter, Kristen Smith.

“No trampolines involved,” wrote Stone. “The joy and trust in that photo are what inspired me to submit it.”

What happened next? “Chloe landed happily back in her dad’s arms to the relief of her grandmother!”
