COACH: Darren Brown is the head soccer coach at Mount Si and has been coaching the boys team since 2004.
STRENGTHS: Last year the team won KingCo and graduated 12 seniors. That has left this year’s team much younger, but still with a strong core of solid players that have returned.
“They are working super hard and there are a lot of good signs ahead,” Brown said.
NEEDS TO IMPROVE: Losing 12 seniors has motivated the team to work harder to improve so they can return to the level they were at last year.
“When you lose so many players like we did, we are green in a lot of areas. It’s going to take a bit of time,” Brown said. “Last year we came out and won eight, nine in a row, we were just stormin’. This year you can’t really call it. There are going to be some bumps and bruises and it’s going to be a roller coaster ride, but we are set up for success for the next three, four seasons so that’s what we are really excited about.
CAPTAINS: Reid Howland, Jimmy Jacobson and Ethan Duvall
GAMES TO WATCH: “Issaquah and Skyline are always big, any game in 4A is gonna be a huge contest. Every single game, there are no gimmes, you gotta play every single one,” Brown said. “We are coming out of the gates right away playing Evergreen from Vancouver and going to play Union in Vancouver.”
