NORTH BEND – A North Bend man is dead after his trailer was engulfed in flames the afternoon of April 4.
The man was pronounced dead on the scene after firefighters from Eastside Fire and Rescue arrived to the location of his home at the end of 434th Avenue Southeast following a 4:45 p.m. call from a neighbor about the fire.
The identity of the man and cause of death was not released by the King County Medical Examiner’s Office by the Valley Record’s press time.
King County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant Cameron Webster said firefighters arrived to find the man near the steps of his home. They dragged him out, but he was pronounced dead on the scene.
The total loss of the trailer and all of the possessions inside was estimated to be $9,000.
Eastside Fire and Rescue Public Information Officer Josie Williams said the cause of the fire was likely a cigarette that was left burning.
Terry Jensen, a resident of 434th Avenue Southeast, said the man who died in the fire kept to himself. Other than the friendly wave from his car as he drove down the street, Jensen said he never saw the man outside of his home.
“It was kind of a funny existence,” Jensen said.
Although the King County Sheriff’s Office major crimes unit arrived on the scene, it determined that there was no foul play involved in the incident.
