Police Department offering self-defense course for women only

A women’s self-defense course is being offered by the Snoqualmie Police Department for women age 16 or older and living in Snoqualmie or North Bend.

The course is taught using the nationally-recognized Rape Aggression Defense System (R.A.D.). The program is dedicated to teaching defensive concepts and techniques against various types of assault by using easy, effective and proven self-defense tactics. The course includes participation in hands-on self-defense methods, as well as instruction for crime prevention, risk reduction and avoidance.

Certified instructors Nigel Draveling, Kim Stonebraker and Shelley Rowe will teach the course.

Participants must attend all four classes for a total of 12 hours. Classes will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. at Cascade Covenant Church, 13225 436th Ave. S.E. in North Bend on the following dates: Wednesday, April 27, Thursday, April 28, Wednesday, May 4, Thursday, May 5.

A course fee of $30 is due on the first day of class. Cash or check is accepted.
