Snoqualmie, North Bend, offer personal defense class for high school girls

A free women’s self-defense course is being offered by the Snoqualmie Police Department for girls in high school, ages 16 and older, who live in Snoqualmie or North Bend.

The course is taught using the nationally-recognized Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) system. The program is dedicated to teaching defensive concepts and techniques against various types of assault by using easy, effective and proven self-defense tactics.

The course includes participation in hands-on self-defense methods, as well as instruction for crime prevention, risk reduction and avoidance. Certified instructors and Snoqualmie Police Officers Nigel Draveling and Kim Stonebraker will teach the course.

Participants must attend all four classes for a total of 12 hours. Classes will be held at Mount Si High School, 8651 Meadowbrook Way S.E.

Classes are scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, Wednesday, March 23, Monday, March 28 and Wednesday, March 30.
