Another close one for Mount Si: Boys drop home game to Bothell

“We were right there again, like we’ve been so many times this season,” said Mount Si High School boys basketball coach Kyle Clearman, “but we just couldn’t quite get the big shots and the stops.”
His team’s 71-81 loss Friday, Jan. 29 to Bothell was especially hard since the team came back from a slow start to bring the game to within one point, with just minutes left in the fourth quarter. Then the Wildcats’ top scorer, Danny Tomson fouled out, and the game turned to Bothell.
Tomson scored 19 points in the game, including four three-pointers. Ryan Fischer also had four from the three-point line in his 18 points. Cody Randall added 12 points to the team total, two three-pointers, and Taylor Upton scored eight points. Also scoring for the Wildcats were Gavin Gorell with four, LJ Linton and Brendan Botten with two each and Matt Myers, one.
“I love that these guys are staying so positive,” Clearman said of his team. They have few games left in the season, and “as of right now, we’re in the hunt for the playoffs.”
Mount Si hosts Skyline for senior night, Tuesday, Feb. 2, and travels to Newport for the final regular season game Feb. 5.
