Wildcat wrestlers take two top spots in Everett Classic

Mount Si wrestlers placed fifth overall in the Everett Classic tournament over the weekend, and seven of them scored in their individual events.
Two wrestlers, Mason Marenco and Andrew Harris, placed first in their weight classes, 160 for Marenco, 220 for Harris. Henry Foster, at 138, placed second in his class and Spencer Marenco, 126, placed third.
Mason Marenco won by pins in his first two matches, with Brady Vietz of Ferndale and Nick Jensen of Lake Stevens, respectively. He shut out Noah Stoonsma 11 to 0 in the semifinals to advance to the final round. There, he defeated Owen Donnelly of Shorecrest 10 to 2, to claime first place. Harris won four straight matches by pin to claim first place in the 220-pound weight class. His opponents, respectively, were Alex Maxwell of Meadowdale, Tony Cortez of Pasco, Jon Palgashvili of Interlake and Terry Zaragoza of Issaquah.
Foster started the tournament with a 13 to 10 win over Cole Manchester of Interlake. He then defeated Ryan Davis of Chief Sealth, 16 to 6 to advance to the semifinals. In a close match with Nate Paulson of Lynnwood, Foster claimed the 9 to 8 win, to advance to the finals, where he lost by a pin to Boston Jones of Arlington.
Spencer Marenco, wrestling at 126, pinned Ryan Arboleda of Everett, then was pinned by Adam Adkinson of Sedro-Woolley, who later tied with him for third place. In the consolation round, Marenco pinned Aidan Campana of Interlake, then won a match with Will Rush of Arlington 7 to 2. He won a match with Beck Millet, Meadowdale, 14 to 2 in the finals to tie for third.
Kalin Riley, 106, was eliminated in the second round of the tournament, when his Snohomish opponent, Josh Ren, who went on to win the weight class, pinned him. In the consolation round, he lost by a pin to Aiden Granquist of Lake Stevens
Connor Holt was eliminated in the first round of the 132-pound bracket, losing to Leul Wolde of Lynnwood, 7 to 3. In the consolation bracket, he defeated Shorecrest’s Chandler Keopanya 7 to 4, then Shane Williams of Vashon Island 6 to 2 before a 5 to 0 loss to Talon Tate of Lake Stevens.
Jack Hamerly won his first round of the tournament by pinning Interlake’s Lucas Varela, but was pinned in round 2 by Parker Spady of Arlington. He went on to defeat Ben Kloes of Snohomish 10 to 1 in the consolation bracket, but lost 9 to 5 to Juan Flores of Liberty.
