Former North Bend author is Indie Excellence finalist

After spending time in Africa and learning about the civil war and atrocities, author David Hartness, formerly of North Bend, became inspired to tell one unique story, about child soldiers and the growing demand for them in war-torn countries.
The resulting book is “Amani’s River.”
The book is a National Indie Excellence Award finalist for 2015.
He will be at Barnes and Noble Westgate on July 18 from noon to 2 p.m.
