Cedarcrest track athlete Logan Orndorf signed a letter of intent to run next fall at the University of Portland. He will run cross country and track and field, and is planning to study engineering. The University of Portland’s men’s squad has qualified for the last nine NCAA Division 1 national meets, three times placing in the top eight at the national meet. There is a small number of schools that have those kind of credentials, says Cedarcrest coach Bruce McDowell.
As a member of the Cedarcrest squad, Orndorf was a four-time state cross country qualifer. He was a two-time Cascade Conference individual champion, three-time state placer and was twice named to the All-State team.
In track, Orndorf is a two-time state qualifier at the 3,200 meter race. As a junior over the distance of 3,200 meters, he was the Cascade Conference champion, became the school record holder and placed eighth at state.
