Steve Jarvis appointed to new position

Alaska Airlines announced the appointment of Stephen Jarvis to

staff vice president/e-commerce, a new position within the company’s

marketing and planning department.

Jarvis, whose appointment was effective Nov. 30, will be

responsible for establishing the carrier’s e-commerce strategy. His

responsibilities will include close work and

coordination with the airline’s information and communication services division

to develop and deploy enhanced online products and services for

Alaska’s customers.

Gregg Saretsky, vice president of marketing and planning, said, “We

feel fortunate to have someone of Steve’s talent, background and

experience joining us in this important, exciting and expanding area of our business.”

Jarvis joins Alaska from Seattle-based Destinations.com, an

online travel, services and software vendor, where he served as vice president

of e-commerce and acquisitions. At Destinations.com, he had

responsibility for that company’s Internet business objectives, including

development, market research, consumer marketing and product management.

Steve has also held challenging positions with AT&T Wireless

Services, where he managed Internet partnerships and Web content;

Intermind Corporation; and Boeing, among others.

Jarvis holds a bachelor’s degree in aeronautical engineering and

a master’s in business administration from the University of Washington.

He and his wife reside with their son in Carnation.
