Fall City financier convicted of federal tax evasion charges

Former financial guru Wade Cook of Fall City was convicted last week in federal court on charges of tax fraud. The jury deadlocked on an eighth charge that alleged he conspired with his wife, Laura, to commit the fraud. The jury also deadlocked on all charges against Laura Cook, 54.
Wade Cook, 57, was convicted Feb. 20 on three counts of filing false income-tax returns for 1998-2000; three counts of income-tax evasion for those years and one count of obstructing the Internal Revenue Service.
