Back to school

Published 9:32 am Thursday, October 2, 2008

It was a day for new beginnings in Snoqualmie Valley schools when classes began Wednesday, Sept. 5, for the 2007/2008 school year.

For most students, the first day of school was about discovering the rules, meeting new faces and exploring their new classes.

At Snoqualmie Elementary School, children arrived to signs welcoming them back as SES Cougars, ready to begin the year.

Fourth-grade teacher Danette Hruska shook every child’s hand as he or she came to class.

“I want them to know I care about how they come into the classroom and they’re welcome here,” she said. “It’s a nice formality to do as they come in, transitioning from summer to the school year.”

Fifth-grade teacher Luke Talbott stuck colored star stickers on the foreheads of his new class of students as they walked in the door.
