VRA commissions marketing study

Taking what Board President Jeff Spencer called “one of the final

steps in preparing for a Snoqualmie Valley pool and recreation center,” the

Valley Recreation Association (VRA) commissioned a marketing study

at their October meeting.

“We need to know if a pool and recreation center will produce

enough operational income from Valley residents, before we can actually start

raising the big bucks for construction,” Spencer said.

Hebert Research of Bellevue will carry out the research, which will

include interviewing 300 residents of the lower Snoqualmie Valley. “These

interviews will help us determine demand for the facility, including

what features it should include and where it should be located to create

maximum operational revenues,” Spencer explained.

“Our Board only wants to build a facility if it can support itself,”

Spencer said. “We want to create a community recreational center, but not

if it needs taxpayer support. There are existing governmental agencies

that could do that.”

The research should be completed by the end of December. Based

on the results, the VRA will know how to proceed with raising $4 to 8

million required to build the proposed facility.

If you are interested in more information about the VRA or the

pool project, contact them at PO Box 522, Carnation, WA 98014; or email

Sno-Valley Little League looks for board members.

The Snoqualmie Valley Little League, which serves the

communities of Snoqualmie and North Bend, is looking for board members to

take over several positions. Positions open for the upcoming season include

President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Fund-raising,

Concessions, Softball reps, Baseball reps, Umpire rep, Equipment managers, Field

managers, and a host of coaching and assistant positions.

“Without volunteers stepping forward its likely the 2000 season

won’t happen” says former President Jim McKiernan. “There are just too

many things to do in a short amount of time and the die-hard crew we have had is

moving up and out of Little League,” he added.

An elections/informational meeting will be held on Nov. 2, 7:30

p.m. at the North Bend Depot at which time a decision on the fate of the 2000

season will be made. All interested volunteers should plan on attending.
