Those who have ever wanted to try rowing will have the opportunity to do so at an open house at the Sammamish Rowing Association boathouse from noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 12. No experience is required and adults and youth are welcome.

Visitors will be able to tour the boathouse, talk with coaches, take a short row with experienced rowers and sign up for novice or advanced classes.

SRA is a community rowing program dedicated to providing a broad access to rowing for everyone in the area through programs for youth ages 13-18 years old, adults and individuals of various physical capabilities. Founded in 1996, SRA is the only rowing program on Seattle’s Eastside. Rowing is done on Lake Sammamish with the boathouse located in Marymoor Park.

Young players can sharpen softball skills at clinic

This year’s Mount Si High School softball camp for first- through eighth-graders will be held Saturday, March 18, at the high school. Cost is $35 and includes a T-shirt and lunch. Hours of the camp are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Local coaches are welcome to attend at no cost. The fundamentals of hitting, pitching, fielding, catching and base running will be taught by Mount Si players and coaches.

Soccer tryouts set for March 18, 19

The Snoqualmie Valley Youth Soccer Association will be hosting tryouts for Cascade Select (SnVYSA’s advanced development program) March 18 and 19 (and some mid-week dates) for age groups U11 through U18 (born between Aug. 1, 1995, through May 31, 1989). BGSC golf tourney set for second year

For the second year in a row, Snoqualmie will be home to the Boeing Greater Seattle Classic, part of the Charles Schwab Cup Champions Tour. The BGSC will be held at TCP at Snoqualmie Ridge beginning Aug. 14 and running through Aug. 20. David Eger is the defending champion and Boeing, Wells Fargo and Lumbermens have returned to be the title sponsors for the tournament.

Three events will take place during the course of the week. The “NFL Alumni Rumble at the Ridge” presented by Lumbermens is scheduled for Aug. 14, and the Wells Fargo Pro-Am will be Aug. 16 and 17. The main event, the BGSC, will be held from Aug. 18 to Aug. 20.

Babe Ruth registration

Snoqualmie Valley Youth HUB and the Rainiers Baseball Club are accepting registrations and conducting final tryout for Babe Ruth Baseball. Final tryouts will take place Saturday, March 18 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Si View Community Center. Eligible players must be ages 13-18. Teams will be formed at the 13-year-old Prep, 13- to 15-year-old Major, 16-year-old Prep and 16- to 18-year-old Senior. Season and practices begin in late March and run through June with play-offs to the Babe Ruth World Series running through July. A player and parent meeting will take place on Tuesday, March 21, at 7:30 p.m. at the Si View Community Center in the Fireside Room.

Local gymnasts compete

Two local gymnasts recently competed in the Gymnastics East Level 7 Gym Express meet.

Georgia Reynolds, a 13-year-old from North Bend took first in all-around in her age group. She scored a 9.625 on the vault, 8.950 on the bars, 9.250 on the beam and 9.350 on the floor. Miranda Roberts, a 13-year-old from Fall City, took 11th in all-around with a 9.2 on the vault, 9.4 on the bars, 7.4 on the beam and 9.025 on the floor.


Wildcats to hold camp

The Mount Si High School baseball team will be holding its annual skills camp Saturday March 11. The camp will be held at the high school from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is open to players first- through eighth-grade. The cost is $35 with registration available at the door. The fee includes a T-shirt and lunch. Coaches’ registration is free.

The camp will focus on hitting, pitching, fielding, catching and base running. The instructors are the Wildcat baseball team and coaches. In case of rain, camp will be in the gym, bring tennis shoes.
