During its Jan. 31 floor debate on pending legislation, the Washington Senate approved Resolution 8650 honoring the Mount Si High School girls cross country team, who are the 2023 4A Washington State League Champions.

Four Mount Si High School runners finished in the top ten during the Nov. 4 race last year, securing the state championship and outscoring the second-place team by 23 points.

“As much as we like to focus on athletic accomplishments, these are great students as well,” resolution co-sponsor Sen. Brad Hawkins said. “They really embody the best of student-athletes and what they have to offer.”

North Bend Mayor Mary Miller, Mount Si Head Coach Steven Crane and the athletes were in attendance at the Capitol, alongside representatives from the Snoqualmie Valley School District and officials from the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA).
