Sensory processing disorder may be at the root of a child’s “bad behavior.” Parents can learn about the disorder, and behavior problems, at a free workshop, 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5 at at the Virginia Mason Issaquah Clinic in Issaquah.
Encompass of North Bend is hosting the workshop, led by Darlene Logan, Encompass occupational therapist. Logan is a state-approved MERIT trainer and an Encompass specialist in child and adolescent growth and development, with more than 17 years of experience as an occupational therapist. She has extensive experience working with children on the autism spectrum, and who have sensory processing disorders.
“Some behavior can look like bad behavior but is really sensory driven and when the sensory problem is corrected, the behavior can vanish if caught early and understood correctly,” says Kerry Beymer, parenting education and support manager at Encompass.
This workshop is part of a groundbreaking series that presents the latest scientific research findings on child development in a useful, practical way. Learn the pillars of your child’s social and emotional development and why they are critical to future success in academics and in life.
Space is limited. Sign up now by calling Kerry Beymer at (425) 888-2777.
