Two more voters may have their say in the Snoqualmie Valley School District bond election.

Their ballots will be recommended for inclusion in the recount that began today for the Feb. 8 $56 million bond for middle school construction, which failed by a single vote.

King County Elections Communications Director Kim Van Ekstrom believes the King County Canvassing Board will allow these two ballots to be included in the results when it meets Friday morning, March 4.

The ballots were mailed by the Feb. 8 deadline, she explained, but the signatures on them could not be verified, or “cured,” by the time the results were certified. Since the Feb. 23 certification, the signatures were confirmed, so “We thought it would be appropriate to include them,” van Ekstrom said.

If accepted, the two ballots will be included in count Friday, which includes two precincts specifically not counted today. Van Ekstrom noted that combining the last two ballots with the other precincts’ will ensure all voters anonymity.

The $56.2 million bond needs a 60 percent approval or “supermajority” to pass.
