Summer food drive raises 500 pounds for Snoqualmie Valley Food Bank

Summer is known as the hungriest time of the year for kids because many children who are in food programs at school are no longer provided breakfast and lunch when the school year ends. The Cleaning Authority in North Bend hosted a drive, The Cleaning Authority Cares Summer Food Drive, to fight summer hunger. The company collected donations of kid-friendly foods that require little or no preparation.

Customers supported the food drive, helping to provide 521 pounds of food for the Snoqualmie Valley Food Bank. The food drive goal has been a quarter-ton, or 500 pounds. “We couldn’t have done it without our incredible customers and of course our team members,” said The Cleaning Authority owner Paul McMahon. “They did all of the collections for this effort.”

The Snoqualmie Valley Food Bank relies on community support to assist people in need. Approximately 300 households visit the food bank each week; 32 percent of food bank clients are children and 25 percent are seniors. In addition to providing access to healthy food the food bank connects people to resources, jobs and housing and provide assistance to navigate the complicated systems.
