A section of Interstate 90 near North Bend is about to get a much-needed facelift. On Tuesday, July 5, contractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will begin a project to repave 1.5 miles of I-90 between S.R. 202 (Exit 31) and the South Fork Snoqualmie River.

Crews will also replace concrete panels, rumble strips and repave two bridges.

During construction, no lane or ramp closures will be allowed on Friday and Saturday nights. However, one lane of the freeway in either direction may be closed around the clock between 8 p.m. on Sundays and 3 p.m. on Fridays. Because of the Independence Day holiday, the first of these closures is scheduled for 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, to 5 a.m. Wednesday, July 6.

Up to two lanes may close nightly from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

The SR 202 on-ramp to eastbound I-90 and the westbound I-90 exit to SR 202 may close nightly from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Travelers should plan ahead for delays and extra time travel though the construction area. The project is expected to be completed this fall.
