Sudden cardiac arrest is the leading cause of sudden death in exercising and “at-play” young people and is typically the result of an undiagnosed structural or electrical problem.
Nick of Time Foundation will host a cardiac screening for people ages 14 to 24, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, at the Mount Si High School Freshman Campus.
The Nick of Time Foundation offers ECG youth heart screenings to detect hidden heart conditions with the potential for sudden death in the young, to reduce sudden cardiac death through early detection and medical intervention, and to raise awareness in schools and communities about the warning symptoms of sudden cardiac arrest.
Donations are accepted and used to defer screening costs and enable foundation to provide future screenings.
