Encompass is offering a new course for children ages 9 to 13, designed to prepare them for staying home alone. The class run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 12, at the Encompass Early Learning Center, 1407 Boalch Ave. N.W., North Bend.

Participants will learn skills that will help them take the next step toward independence while parents will gain some peace of mind. Topics will include the responsibilities of being alone, first aid and choking safety, online safety, fire safety, and information on abuse, addiction, and “stranger danger.”
