Snoqualmie Police are monitoring a spike in car prowler activity in city limits.

Over the last three weeks, officers have responded to roughly 30 car prowls, most on Snoqualmie Ridge.

In every incident, the cars were left unlocked with valuables in plain sight.

Police said these crimes might not have happened if owners had locked their doors and hidden valuables.

Police arrested two car prowl suspects after an alert citizen reporting the crime in progress.

These suspects may be responsible for some of the recent car prowls in Snoqualmie, but other suspects still remain active in city neighborhoods.

Officers have recently completed a crime analysis and mapping of these incidents and developed a response plan to include saturation patrols and undercover surveillance.

Officers urge residents to be aware of activity in their neighborhoods and report suspicious behavior.

If you see any suspicious behavior and/or persons, call 9-1-1 to make a report. If you feel it is not urgent, tell the 9-1-1-dispatcher it is a non-emergency and they will direct an officer to assist.

To reduce your risk of becoming a victim of vehicle prowl, you should:

• Park in a garage, well-lit area, or in locations frequently used by pedestrians

• Lock the ignition and doors and roll up all windows

• Use car alarms and removable electronic equipment such as stereos and GPS units

• Remove all valuables including garage door openers.
