Burn ban for Eastside Fire & Rescue communities starts June 15

Published 10:30 am Sunday, June 12, 2016

Eastside Fire & Rescue (EF&R) begins the annual burning moratorium on Wednesday, June 15. Anyone living within the boundaries of EF&R needs to be aware of the guidelines regarding burning during the moratorium.

No burning to clear land is allowed at any time within King, Pierce and Snohomish Counties.

Permits are required for all wood fires for recreational use (cooking or campfires) in the Eastside Fire service area, throughout the year. Obtain these no-fee permits at www.eastsidefire-rescue.org.

Propane, natural gas, and charcoal fires used for cooking do not require a burn permit.

Recreational wood fires are required to use only dry, seasoned wood. The maximum size of these fires is three feet in diameter, two feet in height. Fires, with or without food, must be contained in a barbecue pit or fire ring; approved manufactured portable fireplace units are also allowed.

Any fire using wood is subject to the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency burn ban. For more information, call (800) 595-4341 or visit www.pscleanair.org.
