SNOQUALMIE VALLEY – Rep. Glenn Anderson, R-Fall City, has been chosen to head up a national panel on education charged with examining challenges and exploring innovative policies for state governments to consider. Anderson has been appointed national chairman of the Conference of State Governments’ (CSG) Education Emerging Trends Work Group that is made up of state legislators, academic experts and representatives of the private sector.

CSG works to alert state officials to social, economic and political trends and collaborates with elected officials to offer effective policy ideas. Anderson, who has been among the lead lawmakers in Washington studying education funding mechanisms and achievement, said he is looking forward to facilitating discussions on the national panel.

“A quality educational system offers our state and our nation the strongest competitive advantage for lifelong learning, prosperity and improved quality of life,” said Anderson, who is the assistant ranking Republican on the House K-12 Education Committee. Anderson is also the lead House Republican on the governor’s Washington Learns Task Force, a group engaged in a comprehensive review of the state’s early learning, K-12 and higher education policies and funding priorities.

Anderson will facilitate an upcoming panel discussion at the CSG’s Annual State Trends and Leadership Forum Dec. 1-4 in Wilmington, Del.
