Snoqualmie Valley Rotary gears up for fundraising events

The local chapter is hosting SipFest and the Mount Si Classic golf tournament in July.

Each year, Rotary Club of Snoqualmie Valley makes a summer splash with its two fundraising events: SipFest and the Mount Si Classic.

This year, SipFest, a beer and wine festival, is July 12, and the Mount Si Classic golf tournament is July 25. These ticketed events raise funds that allow Rotary to support community initiatives throughout the year.

Rotary gives out between $20,000 and $30,000 in grants each year, according to Anna-Marie Scarberry, the club’s public relations chair. Rotary also gives out several thousand dollars in scholarship awards and runs yearly service projects, like food and clothing drives.

“Everything that we raise, that money does not go to Rotary keeping the lights on,” Scarberry said. “Everything that we make goes back into the community and making it a place that people want to be and live and stay.”

SipFest is in its ninth year. Previously, SipFest was organized by an outside company, but this year, Rotary member Kimberlea Miller is convening the many wineries and breweries that will be in attendance. Miller, a restaurateur and sommelier, owns Wildflower Barrelhouse in North Bend.

The 2025 SipFest will have tastings from more than 25 wineries and breweries and discounted bottle sales.

The Mount Si Classic is in its 32nd year and continues to be a popular event. All levels of golf players are welcome, and there are extra games at each hole to keep things interesting for those who aren’t the biggest golf fans.

“There’s a lot of people who like to be involved in the community, but they’re also very busy, who tend to come and play at that event,” Scarberry said. “It’s a really fun way for them to get to connect with each other because they don’t get to do that very often. So it’s kind of like a community neighbor building type of thing.”

Both events bring in funds from sponsorships as well. Sponsorship opportunities are closing for SipFest, but are still open for the golf tournament, where businesses can sponsor golf carts, get their name on merchandise and more.

Sponsorship packages vary in price from $100 to $2,500. For more information, visit the Mount Si Classic registration page.

Outside of the two events, Scarberry encourages locals who want to be more civically engaged to pop into a Rotary meeting.

“I think there’s a hunger to be part of something, and a lot of people just don’t know where to start,” she said. “For me, this has been a really good avenue to get plugged in.”
