Rubber duckies make a dash for cash

Place your bets on the fastest duck and win up to $500 at the Fall City Day Ducky Derby.
The annual fundraiser for Fall City schools is a spirited, but short-lived race down the Snoqualmie River by numbered rubber ducks. Festival-goers gather on the riverbanks to watch as the ducks are poured into the Snoqualmie River from atop the S.R. 202 bridge, for a 400-foot dash. They travel downriver with the help of a floating boom and, if needed, volunteers with leaf blowers.
Tickets for the Ducky Derby are on sale now at several locations, including the Hauglie Professional Building, Fall City Farmhouse Market, Creative Business Advantage, the Raging River Cafe, and the Riverside Tavern. Tickets are also on sale during Fall City Day, from the information booth.
Cost is $5 per ducky, or $20 for five.
