The two flood relief fundraisers held in Carnation on Jan. 10 were very successful, according to those who organized them.
The evening began at Remlinger Farms with a dinner, raffle and silent auction. Here, the Carnation Chamber of Commerce collected donations for the Snoqualmie Valley Preservation Alliance’s Farmer Flood Relief Fund. The alliance (SVPA) is helping flood victims by distributing micro-grants to farmers throughout the Valley.
The event raised more than $11,3oo at last counting, according to chamber Vice President Erin Barzen.
All proceeds will go to SVPA, as everything for the event was donated. Remlinger Farms donated its space and pie, Sysco Food Service donated the dinner food, and volunteers “made it all happen,” Barzen said.
Later on, the Carnation Farms Hippodrome held a fundraising concert organized by Morgan Henley Presents. The lineup included Snoqualmie Valley bands Long and Strange and VibeMind, as well as Austin Jenckes, a locally beloved singer from Duvall who now lives in Nashville, Tennessee.
All proceeds from this sold-out event went to the Rotary Club of Duvall, which is distributing funds among many impacted households and farms in the Duvall area. Morgan Henley estimates the event raised at least $20,000 and counting.
