Independence Day is a time to celebrate our freedom. With this freedom comes a shared responsibility to use fireworks safely.

Every year, fireworks injure people and cause vegetation and structure fires. Whenever you light a fireworks device, be aware of your surroundings and take all safety precautions possible. Be sure spectators are at a safe distance and keep water or a fire extinguisher close.

A reminder to parents: Ensure children’s safety by closely supervising their fireworks use. Don’t overestimate their ability. An alarmingly large number of fireworks injuries are caused by simple sparklers.

For the safety of everyone, use only legal fireworks purchased from state-approved stands during the season.

Be aware, the city of Snoqualmie will enforce its fireworks law to make this Independence Day safe for all. Fireworks laws and safety tips are posted at cityofsnoqualmie.org. In case of emergency, dial 9-1-1.
