Friends and neighbors, we urge you to vote this November and we ask for your support for Snoqualmie Proposition 1, the public safety, streets and parks maintenance levy, to maintain current levels of outstanding fire, police and emergency medical services and maintain basic maintenance of streets, parks, and natural areas.

We believe that Proposition 1 is a balanced approach to citizen’s needs for city services, as expressed in the April 2012 citizen’s survey by EMC Research. The levy will maintain the “No Call Too Small” position for Snoqualmie police and firefighters, which rated very high on the survey. It will ensure response times will continue to be fast as the city continues to grow, which rated even higher.

Voting YES on Proposition 1 will also help maintain safe roads and sidewalks and preserve Snoqualmie’s parks, sports fields, playgrounds, and natural areas—a very high priority on the citizen’s survey. Thirty-five percent of Snoqualmie’s population is age 17 and younger. Let’s preserve what contributes to our children’s health and well-being.

We proudly note that the city of Snoqualmie has never before requested an operations levy but believe that the time has come for all of us who enjoy this special place we call home to assist in maintaining public safety and the environment.

Without the public safety operations, streets and parks maintenance levy, the current levels of service we enjoy cannot continue to be met. The cost for this measure would add about $4 per month for a $200,000 home.

We urge you to vote “yes” on Snoqualmie Proposition 1.
