Cedarcrest welcomes new frosh

In keeping with the trend to involve students more fully in

the transition from one school to the next, Cedarcrest High

implemented a new format to introduce incoming ninth- grade

students to the high school.

About 200 incoming freshman toured the school and heard

presentations from the sports/athletic department officials,

activities director, principal Clarence Lavarias and interim

superintendent Dick Giger.

Also on hand was Louis Bermond, a motivational speaker and

NCAA basketball player, as he urged students to “pack their

bags carefully for the four-year trip ahead of them.”

Typical student comments about the day included, “It was

fun,” and “[The orientation] helped us know the school

better.”

Chow down on spaghetti

Snoqualmie Valley Kiwanis is holding its annual Spaghetti Feed

on Friday, Sept. 17 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Mount Si High.

The event is always held in conjunction with the first Mount

Si Wildcats home football game. This year’s opponent is Skyline

High who historically has proven to be a highly competitive team.

The football game starts at 7:30 p.m.

The cost of the dinner is $5 for adults, $3 for children under

12 and $14 for a family. Tickets are on sale through local

Kiwanians or may be purchased at the door. The dinner includes

spaghetti, French bread, salad, milk or coffee and a variety of

desserts.

Calling all drill team girls

to about 7:30 or 8 p.m. Drill team members will learn routines

and perform during half-time shows at Eagles’ sports events. The

team will also do an exhibition at a local high school

competition, which will include teams from around Western

Washington.
