League champs

Talented team: The Chief Kanim eighth-grade varsity basketball team was crowned the
Foothills League Champions for their 9-1 2000 season. The team members are (front row, left
to right) Justin Lewis, Matty Secord, Kristopher Bostic, Brad Trombley, Corey Roe and Nick
Sheldon. (Back row, left to right) Hank Kennedy, Jimmy Fleming, Coach Mickey Fowler, Jeremy
Johnston and Michael Lindor.
Leading the offensive efforts for the team were Kennedy with a 24.5 point per game
average followed by Lindor with 11.5 points per game, then Bostic with 10.6 points per
game. Johnston led the rebounding efforts, recording 60 offensive and 73 defensive boards for a
13.3 rebounds per game average. Best at the line for freethrows was Bostic with 59.3% made
followed by Johnston with a 56.5% made.
Johnson and Kennedy also led blocked shots with 39 and 25 respectively. Both also
took home season MVP awards. Bostic took individual offensive honors for the season while
teammate Roe took defensive honors. Fleming was most improved for the season and Secord
was recognized with the coaches award.
Sheldon won honors for being the headiest player for the season and Trombley was
recognized for being the best “gamer” of the season. Finally, Lindor won the best “banger” award
of the season and Lewis won the hustle award.
