Carnation event will help residents with flood damages

Apply for flood assistance at the Carnation Library Jan. 5.

King County will host a Disaster Assistance Center in Carnation on Jan. 5 for those impacted by recent flooding to apply for state assistance.

King County representatives will be at the Carnation Library from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. At the center, individuals affected by flooding events from Dec. 5-22 can apply for Washington State’s Individual Assistance program. Applicants are eligible for up to $1,125 in grant awards, but applying does not guarantee funding.

To be eligible for assistance, applicants must earn 80% or less of the area median gross income and show that their primary residence was destroyed or seriously damaged by recent flooding.

According to King County Emergency Management, a Salvation Army Disaster Case Manager will contact applicants to review their situation and identify available recovery assistance. This includes state individual assistance, as well as local, federal, nonprofit and donated resources.

If residents are unable to attend the event, they can visit sahelp.org to apply.
