Over the years the Sno-Valley Moose #1666 and Women of
the Moose #843 have been responsible for a number of worthy projects both
nationally and in the local area.
A few of the local charities the Moose regularly donate to include
Boy Scouts of America _ Pack 452, Children’s Services of Sno-Valley,
the annual Easter Egg Hunt, the Kiwanis/Moose Christmas Giving
Tree, Mooseheart, Moosehaven, The Ronald McDonald House and
White King Foundation-Children’s Hospital.
Moose, Women of the Moose facts
• Founded in 1888 in Louisville, Kentucky
• Reorganized in 1906
• Nonsectarian and nonpolitical
• Membership limited to anyone over 21, who has never been
convicted of a felony, who is of good moral character, physically able and mentally
capable.
• Roughly 2,000 lodges in the United States, Canada, Bermuda
and Great Britain. Total membership of over 1 million.
• Women of the Moose membership exceeds 500,000 in more
than 1,700 chapters.
• Lodge’s net assets: More than $500 million.
• International headquarters located at Mooseheart, Illinois.
About Mooseheart
Founded in 1913, Mooseheart is a campus-like home setting
established and supported by the Loyal Order of Moose to provide a place for
children of Moose members who have lost one or both parents. In recent years
local Sno-Valley children have resided at Mooseheart and attended its
K-12 school. It is located in the Fox River Valley, 35 miles west of Chicago
and has a current population of about 250.
About
Moosehaven
Moosehaven is a retirement home for dependent aged members of
the Loyal Order _ men and women. It is located in Florida on the St.
John’s River. Founded in 1922, it is known as the “City of Contentment.”
Currently, there are “Lifetime” members of the Sno-Valley Moose who have
retired at Moosehaven. The community consists of separate residential
units, a health center, community building, shops and a chapel for all faiths.
The present population is roughly 400.

eggs, hash-browns, biscuits, juice, coffee and costs $4; Sunday’s Super
Bowl Special includes chili burgers, chips and fries and costs $3.
