Halloween fun for cheap: Costume Swap Day in Carnation, Duvall is this weekend, next

Halloween comes just once a year.  As a result Halloween costumes, well, they get worn one time—maybe twice if there’s a younger sibling willing to wear it another year.  Chances are your costumes are still in good enough shape to pass them along to another child.  From that simple idea, every kid’s favorite holiday just got more parent- and planet-friendly, thanks to Costume Swap Day, hosted by local businesses and Macaroni Kid.

“Costume Swap Day is about showing our children a better way to celebrate!  Because something as simple as a costume swap does make a difference in the environment and brings our community together in a fun and unique way,” said Erin Chamberlain, Publisher/Editor of Macaroni Kid Cherry Valley. “A swap is a great way to keep costumes and dress up clothes out of landfills, offers children the chance to make more creative decisions about their costume choice, and with the average costume costing $30, it saves parents a ton of money!”

Swaps are planned for:

• Duvall Print & Post, 14030 Main St. N.E., Suite E, next to Safeway, on October 4 and 5 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and October 6 to 10 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

• Millers Carnation, 4797 Tolt Ave, on October 4 from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and October 7 to 10 from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Erin Chamberlain, a Carnation mom of one daughter, launched Macaroni Kid Cherry Valley in June 2013.
