The nonprofit organization Serve Snoqualmie and the city of Snoqualmie are hosting the Red White and Boom Fireworks Celebration, Monday July 4, at Snoqualmie Community Park, 35016 S.E. Ridge St.
Seating will be available in the upper and lower fields, starting at 7 p.m. Fireworks are scheduled to begin at 9:45 p.m..
Snoqualmie Parks and Public Works Director Dan Marcinko said, “It’s all about celebrating our heritage and giving our families a safe gathering place.”
Effective this year, Snoqualmie has banned aerial fireworks. The action was prompted by a July 4, 2014, house fire on Snoqualmie Ridge. No one was seriously injured, but the home sustained significant damage; the cause of the fire was a bottle rocket that landed on the roof.
Firefighters will be on hand during the show, said Entertainment Fireworks owner and lead pyrotechnician for the Snoqualmie show, Ken Julian. “This is a very serious profession and safety is paramount.”
Julian is particularly excited about Snoqualmie’s event because of his visit to the city, he said.
“Where we always start the process is we go out and take a look at the site to see if it’s suitable for what we do,” he explained. In his examination of Community Park, he said he discovered a bench with a view atop the hill, and “It was just gorgeous, I was hooked.”
The free gathering is for Snoqualmie and its surrounding communities. Prizes, music, bounce houses, and vendors will be featured at the event.
Red, White and Boom in Snoqualmie and the Carnation Fourth of July fireworks show at Tolt-MacDonald Park are the only professional fireworks shows in the Valley on July 4.
Event Chair Jeff Mihal stated, “I am so excited about this event, but we could not have done this without the financial backing from our community sponsors, donors and vendors. Thank you all.”
