Students from the Storefront Studio program at the University of Washington will present their designs and concepts for future downtown architecture at an open house at 3:30 p.m., on Friday, June 3 at Snoqualmie City Hall.
Storefront Studio is a program that has students develop new designs for existing spaces to promote economic revitalization in the cities they work with.
The open house is an opportunity for Snoqualmie citizens to see the designs created by the students, who have taken feedback from city officials, local business owners, and other citizens.
The program began with a meeting of the students, local businesses and city staff to talk about what gives Snoqualmie its character and to determine the path that the students would take in their designs.
The students who tackled a variety of projects in teams, had open showcases at Sigillo Cellars, where they receive more feedback from the local community members. The groups focused on their efforts on designs that would attract more people without losing the historical feel of the downtown core.
After 10 weeks of work on and in Snoqualmie, the final open house on June 3 will be a chance for residents to see what kind of redesigns could be possible in the future. All of the designs will be collected in a book given to the city of Snoqualmie and will also be available online.
