Mount Si Gymnastics Academy at 1546 Boalch Ave. N.W., North Bend, is hosting a fund raising carnival and barbecue event, starting at 6:30 p.m., Friday, May 20.

Just before the carnival, academy students will perform a free competitive gymnastics demonstration, featuring some state championship competitors.

Seven members of the academy teams recently qualified to compete in the state championships, May 13 and 14 at Magnuson Park in Seattle.

The carnival is free to the public. Proceeds from the event will go toward a new foam pit for the academy, which opened in April 2012 in North Bend.
