The North Bend/Snoqualmie Democratic precinct caucuses will be held on March 26, at the Mount Si High School Freshman Campus, 9200 Railroad Avenue, Snoqualmie. Sign-in begins at 10 a.m, and the general meeting starts at 10:30 a.m.
The Washington State Democratic party will not use a primary election to determine its delegates to the national convention. Instead, the purpose of the precinct caucus will be to elect delegates committed to the Democratic presidential candidates. The precinct delegates will advance to the 5th Legislative District caucus, where delegates will be elected to the state convention and from there to the national convention. The number of delegates that a candidate will receive is determined by the votes received at the precinct level.
During the general meeting, the precinct captain will lead a discussion on issues and the candidates. Everyone will have a chance to advocate for his or her preferred candidate before the vote. Following the vote, the delegates will be divided by candidate for the legislative district caucus.
All are invited. Students who will be of voting age at the time of the Presidential Election can fully participate. Only registered voters can vote in the caucus, however.
