Snoqualmie Tribe elects new members to tribal council, selects council officers

The Snoqualmie Indian Tribe held its annual tribal council election on Saturday, May 14. More than 200 tribal members attended and participated in the election.

Four seats on the council, and one alternate position were up for votes. Incumbent Alisa Burley was reelected, and Suzanne Sailto, Jolene Williams, and Michael Ross secured the other positions. Katina Mullen was elected to the alternate position.

The council selected its officers on Thursday, May 19. Sharon Frelinger will serve as vice chair, Alisa Burley will continue as secretary, and Richard Zambrano will continue as treasurer.

“We greatly appreciate the dedication of former Council Members Sunny Clear, Lois Sweet Dorman, and Melynda Davis, who all worked tirelessly to serve our people and support our tribe,” said chairwoman Carolyn Lubenau. “The Tribal Council looks forward to working together with the new council members to continue the good work that has been set before us.”

The Snoqualmie Tribal Council has a chair, nine members, and two alternates.

The Snoqualmie Indian Tribe is a federally recognized tribe in the Puget Sound region of Washington State. Known as the People of the Moon, Snoqualmie Tribal members were signatories of the Treaty of Point Elliott with the Washington territory in 1855. The Tribe owns and operates the Snoqualmie Casino in Snoqualmie, WA.
