The Snoqualmie people historically gathered camas, lilies, bracken fern, wild carrot and berries on the valley floor. Early settlers grew hops. In the 20th century farmers established dairy farms on the lush, river bottom. By 1940, 23 dairy farms were situated between Duvall and Carnation alone. In the late ’70s and ’80s many Hmong families established Valley farms in their traditional practice of “row cropping” vegetables and flowers.

Today, the tradition of farming in the valley continues, with close to 100 small family farms producing meat, dairy, eggs, vegetables, fruit, flowers, honey and fiber.

Bounty Week was developed by a coalition of local cities, Chambers of Commerce, businesses, and individuals. Food purchasing and distribution for Bounty Week is coordinated through the Snoqualmie Valley Farmers Cooperative.
