Out of the Past: Fall City woman gets request for goodie bags from Gen. Schwarzkopf; Snoqualmie OKs sewer project for under $1 million

Thursday, April 11, 1991

For months, Pamela Lind of Fall City has been working on fixing up “goodie bags” for the men and women serving in the Persian Gulf. Now she needs a little more help to fulfill the dream. Lind, recently received permission from the top, from U.S. Army General Norman Schwarzkopf, to mail 5,000 of the paper lunch bags filled with treats an necessities hard to come by in the Gulf. Lind and her helpers have amassed 4,000 filled bags, ready to send.

On April 2, the Washington Board of Natural Resources unanimously approved a major land exchange with the Weyerhaeuser Company. The Department of Natural Resources will exchange nearly 27,000 acres of state lands in Cowlitz, Pacific, Lewis, Thurston, Pierce, Grays Harbor, King and Snohomish counties. Included in the swap are approximately 6,000 acres of Weyerhaeuser land and 2,000 acres of DNR land east of Snoqualmie and North Bend.

Thursday, April 14, 1966

The estimated cost of the proposed Snoqualmie sewer system was set at $850,000 it was revealed at a meeting of the Snoqualmie Town Council at the Town Hall Monday night. The figure was included in ordinance No. 348, relating to the sewer project, which was unanimously passed by the council. Passage of the ordinance followed requests of governmental units that will help provide financing for the sewerage project.

The office of the State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Louis Bruno, has approved a tentative allocation for the Snoqualmie Valley School District No. 410 to start an adult education program this fall, it was announced at the meeting of the School Board Monday night.
