Crushing grapes helps crush cystic fibrosis
Kaitie Gallagher, 9, of Snoqualmie, and Maddie Peters, 5, of North Bend, crush grapes at a cystic fibrosis fund-raiser Oct. 14 at The Veronica Wine Bar in North Bend. The grape crush, wine tasting and wine auction was a fund-raiser for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in conjunction with the Snoqualmie Valley Great Strides fund-raising walk. The event raised $1,000 as participants made donations for the chance to squash grapes with their feet in a wine barrel - no wine was actually made from the juice - or taste a selection of wines from the bar. An auction of various wines also raised money for this benefit.
Gallagher, who has cystic fibrosis, is the daughter of event chairs for Snoqualmie Valley Great Strides, Ray and Cathy Gallagher; Peters is the daughter of Veronica owners Eric and Veronica Peters.
