Parent-Child Home Program for literacy, school readiness returns to Encompass

Encompass and United Way of King County are teaming up again this fall for the Parent-ChildHome Program to support young children’s early literacy and school readiness.

This national program bridges gaps in achievement, preparing children to enter school as ready tobe successful students as their more advantaged peers.

This is the second year that Encompass has offered the Parent-Child Home Program. The inauguralschool year included 30 families, and it is expected to grow to 60 families in the 2012-2013 year.

“Parent-Child Home Program impacts the whole family in a positive manner,” says EmiliFletcher, family support manager at Encompass. “Everyone in the household is invested in that child’slearning.”

Low-income households with a child between 16 and 30 months old are eligible for this program.Families in the program enjoy free books and toys and are visited at home by a Parent-Child HomeProgram team member. Space is limited, so sign up now!
