A man who crashed his pickup truck near Interstate 90 and then crossed to the far side of the freeway before lying down in the roadway was struck by three cars near Preston on Monday morning, Feb. 6.

The man, who was not identified, was clinging to life later in the morning at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Further information was not immediately available.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the incident began about 6 a.m. when the King County Sheriff’s Office was asked to make a welfare check on a North Bend resident. While en route, a deputy saw the pickup crash along High Point Way, a frontage road on the north side of the freeway near Preston.

The driver got out, walked across the westbound lanes, climbed over the freeway median and then laid down in the first eastbound lane.
