The 78th Snoqualmie Railroad Days festival showcases Snoqualmie’s “Trains, Timber, Traditions” Friday through Sunday, Aug. 19 to 21. Take a ride on a steam train as the Santa Cruz and Portland Cement Locomotive 2 pulls trains throughout the festival weekend.
Begun as a fundraiser by volunteer firemen and their wives in 1938, the popular community event is still going strong. Now produced by the Northwest Railway Museum, Railroad Days is celebrated in and around the Snoqualmie Depot and historic downtown Snoqualmie.
Events include a pancake breakfast put on by fire department volunteers, live entertainment, beer and wine gardens, food vendors, a grand parade, arts and crafts, children’s games and wagon rides. Train rides, model trains, timbersports shows, living history, artists in action and the Legends Classic Car show are also part of the festival.
Applications for parade participants, vendors and sponsors are still being accepted; send email to peggy@trainmuseum.org or call (425) 888-3030, ext. 7203.
For more information on train schedules, the Railway History Center, special events and operating hours, visit the museum website at www.trainmuseum.org or call (425) 888-3030.
