Mount Si celebrated the graduation of 383 students on Friday, June 10. Despite the rain, the ceremony went on as planned. Parents brought their umbrellas and students worse plastic gown covers to stay dry during the ceremony.
Principal John Belcher introduced salutatorian Eleanor Joselyn and valedictorian James Jacobson who both spoke about their time in high school and the future that lies before each of the graduates.
Joselyn was recognized for her time on the soccer and softball teams. She broke the school record for number of shutouts by any keeper and received second team all KingCo once and first team all KingCo twice. She was a captain on both the soccer and softball teams. Joselyn will be attending Western Washington University to pursue a degree in environmental science and sustainable design.
Jacobson was also recognized for his accomplishments in class and on the field as a captain on the soccer team. He made the second team All KingCo after recovering from an ACL injury. Jacobson also played three years of varsity golf. He will attend Whitman College in Walla Walla to play soccer and major in economics.
Belcher also recognized the students with both athletic and academic achievements before diplomas were given out.
