Public info meeting planned for July 4 fireworks show on Snoqualmie Ridge

This is the first year that a new Snoqualmie law banning aerial fireworks is in effect for Independence Day. The community group Serve Snoqualmie is planning a professional public fireworks display on the evening of July 4 at Snoqualmie Community Park, 35016 S.E. Ridge St. on Snoqualmie Ridge.

Residents can learn more about the event at a public information meeting, 7 p.m. Thursday, May 19, at the Snoqualmie Valley YMCA Community Center, 35016 S.E. Ridge St.

Fire Chief Mark Correira, Police Chief Steve McCulley, and representatives of Serve Snoqualmie will talk about the upcoming event and the new laws.

The only fireworks that private citizens are allowed in Snoqualmie this year include ground fireworks, hand-held sparking devices, and smoke devices. Aerial devices of any kind are not allowed within Snoqualmie city limits. Anyone using or in possession of these effects will be subject to a fine of up to $750.

Fireworks can be discharged on July 4 from 9 a.m. to midnight to celebrate of Independence Day.

To safely celebrate Independence Day this year, Serve Snoqualmie has arranged for the professional show and is seeking sponsorship from local organizations and businesses, and citizens.
