Saturday is Wildfire Community Preparedness Day; residents encouraged to work on fire prevention projects

The third annual National Wildfire Community Preparedness Day is scheduled for Saturday, May 7.

Residents are encouraged to commit a couple of hours or the entire day to making their communities more wildfire resilient with a Wildfire Prep Day project.

Your efforts will help raise local wildfire awareness, encourage neighborhood collaboration, and bring people together to work on projects. These projects can help protect homes, neighborhoods and entire communities from future wildfire risk even or lessen current post-fire impacts.

“With more and more people living where wildfires are a real risk, it takes adequate planning and precautions to better protect life and property, says State Fire Marshal Charles Duffy. Demonstrate your commitment to wildfire preparedness by adding your May 7 project to the nationwide event map.
