Learn all about the choice edible mushrooms of the Pacific Northwest Thursday, when the City of Duvall Cultural Commission presents mushrooming expert Daniel Winkler, 7:30 p.m. at the Duvall Depot, 26277 N.E. Stephens St., Duvall.

Winkler will discuss and show photographs of edible mushrooms and their toxic look-alikes, and divulge information on the mushrooms’ favorite hide-outs, their fruiting time and the best ways to enjoy them. He will also share photos and stories from his ethno-mycological research in Tibet, the Amazon, Colombia and the European Alps.

He is the author of field guides to edible mushrooms of the Pacific Northwest and California, and grew up collecting and eating wild mushrooms in the Alps. Trained as a geographer and ecologist, he works as a researcher and NGO consultant on environmental issues of the Tibetan Plateau and Himalayas. With his travel agency MushRoaming LLC, he leads mushroom focused eco-tours to Tibet, China, the Amazon, Colombia, the Austrian Alps and the Pacific Northwest.
